Édgar Robles is a prominent Costa Rican economist with a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is currently Director of the Graduate Program in Economics and Full Professor at the School of Economics at the University of Costa Rica. With more than 25 years of experience, he has held key positions such as Superintendent of Pensions of Costa Rica (2010-2015), Vice Minister of Finance (2001-2002), and presidential advisor on economic issues. As an international consultant for the IDB, Novaster, and other organizations, he has worked on pension system reform in more than 15 countries in Latin America and Europe. He is the author of numerous publications on pensions, public finance, and economic growth, and has spoken at conferences in more than 35 countries. Robles is a member of the Professional Association of Economic Sciences of Costa Rica and has led initiatives in financial regulation and risk-based supervision, becoming an influential figure in the fields of social security and economic policy.
