María Alicia Montes is the Asset Allocation Manager at AFP Cuprum, part of Principal Financial Group®, and Past President of CFA Society Chile.
She has developed her career primarily in the investment field, currently holding the position of Asset Allocation Manager, responsible for defining the investment strategy for pension funds, as well as selecting external managers and implementing strategic projects in the area, such as the implementation of pension reform or the inclusion of ESG criteria in investment management.
Previously, she was Advisory Manager at Principal Financial Group in Chile, responsible for ensuring the quality of content and consistency of advice to all Principal and Cuprum clients in Chile.
Between 2016 and 2018, she was Research Manager at AFP Cuprum, responsible for providing, analyzing, and consolidating information to facilitate discussion on the various aspects of the pension debate, in addition to analyzing proposals and their potential impact.
Until 2016, she was International Investment Manager at AFP Cuprum, responsible for investment decisions for pension funds in both stocks and bonds outside of Chile.
María Alicia holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the same university, and holds the CFA Charterholder designation.
